A Chaise Lounge (or Chaise Longue) is an elongated chair meant for reclining and relaxing. It takes its name from 19th Century France, meaning, in French, "˜long chair.' In today's world, it can be a standalone piece as well as a chaise attached to a sectional for extra space to relax. Oftentimes a chaise on a sectional can be separated.
When they're not attached to a sectional, they are freestanding extended chairs"”the equivalent of a chair and an ottoman all in one piece. Sometimes you'll see chaises that have two arms, sometimes they'll have one arm. Oftentimes, they're put in a bedroom, reading nook, or living room.
