There’s no denying that the continuing foam shortage has been causing headaches across multiple industries, furniture included. While it seems the issue is going in a more positive direction, it isn’t time to breathe that huge sigh of relief just yet.
So what does that mean for you as a consumer?
The short answer: Expect delays.
Here’s why:
Due to a shortage of raw materials that are used to make foam, manufacturers are currently unable to operate at full speed. Once they can, they’ll be taking some time to play catch-up before returning to normal.
On top of that, the furniture industry has seen a high demand from consumers, adding pressure to foam manufacturers, and complications with transportation.
In an article for Furniture Today, Chris Bradley, Executive Vice President for foam producer NCFI, shared that he “doesn’t expect foam availability to return to “full-blown normal” until July."
With multiple roadblocks happening at once, you’re going to be waiting longer than usual for your new furniture to arrive.
Whether you’re in the process of buying or anxiously awaiting your order, your custom piece will be worth the wait. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience!
